The International Design Business Management program(IDBM) is a joint teaching and research platform of the Aalto University School of Economics, the School of Science and Technology. The Aalto University is a major Nordic research and teaching institution, created through the merger of the Helsinki School of Economics, the University of Art and Design Helsinki, and the Helsinki University of Technology.

The purpose of the IDBM program is to develop world-class expertise in global design business management through multidisciplinary research and learning that cuts across the areas of business, design and technology. The IDBM program aims to train skilled professionals for key roles in global design business. The program emphasizes the importance of design as a competitive factor, linked with state-of –the –art technology and business models.

Arising from the needs of the industry, this program gives future marketers, engeering exports and designers an opportunity to practice important interpersonal skills through cooperative industry projects and specialized courses. The program builds on the business, design or technology skills and competence achieved at the bachelor’s level, enabling students to make full use of their own potential as members of interdisciplinary teams, often within project-based work.

On September 2011, the first 4 Tongji students continued their study in Aalto as the exchange students of IDBM. Another 4 Tongji students followed the program in September 2012. Also 2 Aalto students came to Tongji for exchange on March 2012.
