Tongji on Tracks is an innovative course that inspires students to tap into their potential and create social impacts via bringing cultures together and cooperating on real challenges in practical life. Meanwhile, it is also a truly multidisciplinary program, with organizers and participants from different countries and various fields. Tongji on Tracks (2012) is a sequel to Aalto on Tracks (2010) and Tongji on Tracks (2011), which took the most talented and students from Tongji University and its partner universities to Korea via train and ship with professors and supervisors.The students worked on the four more innovative workshops upon the real cases requested by the program providers and sponsors Crystal CG, Feidiao, Etopia and etc. From 6th July to 26th July,Tongji On Tracks 2012 has been commenced in Seoul, Daejeon and some other South Korea cities for 20 days. 20 students from Tongji University, Tianji University, Dalian University of Technology, Hunan University and East China University with different majors completed four innovative workshops upon the real cases requested by the program providers and sponsors, namely Feidiao product design (power cabinet), solar charging station, Emini project of Etopia company and sandbox revolution of CG crystal. In four cities (Shanghai, Qingdao, Daejeon and Seoul) and three universities (Tongji University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and Seoul National University), of China and South Korea, students realized their “innovation dreams” by transnational and interdisciplinary collaboration in the changing environment and exercised their brains and hands.

SOLAR CHARGING STATION

This project aims to develop an innovative way to charge the electric vehicle and use the solar energy. Students will explore the behavior of vehicle customers, the characteristics of electric vehicle and all the possibilities that solar panels may provide, as a result, open the new vision of how to use solar energy to charge vehicles for communities and companies.

IHOUSE

The goal of Emini project is to design a container module construction unit system which is based on 20 container combination, and define different container function modules for residential, commercial service facilities, rainwater collection module, module in water treatment, energy module, communication module, and their combination rule. Meanwhile, through designing and text description to define the properties of residential, office and other Habitat indoor space and facilities interface.

SANDBOX REVOLUTION

This project enables students to seek new development path for the future sandbox through the research of the history of sandbox’s main functions, application areas, expression of applied technology and combine with technological innovations, changes in market demand.

FEIDIAO PRODUCT DESIGN (POWER CARBINET

This course provides students an insight into the IDBM Double Through the research of the main functions, materials and installation of the power cabinet, students will find a way to solve the existing problems for the power cabinet company and complete the development of the new product.
