Tongji on Tracks 2015: It Is an Honor Kickoff Held

In the afternoon of June 14th, Tongji on Tracks: It is an Honor kickoff was held in Sino-Finnish Center.

The kickoff was hosted by Prof. Lou Yongqi, Dean of Design and Innovation College, SFC Vice Executive Director. Prof. Fang Shouen, Deputy Party Secretary of Tongji University, Mr. Wang Xiaodong, Manager of Sales Department of Honor and Mr. Lin Ye, Deputy Party Secretary of Tongji Zhejiang College were present and delivered speeches. Fang Shouen said that “Tongji on Tracks” connects “One Belt and One Road” from the starting station to the destination, and students involved should be innovative and challenge themselves so as to learn and achieve more. Wang Xiaodong has been to Italy for seven times and he is quite confident about the strong Tongji-Honor cooperation. He expected that students could enjoy this journey and wished Honor accompany them to travel to more cities and inspire new ideas for innovative thinking. Lin Ye mentioned that it was the first time for Tongji Zhejiang College to work with Tongji on Tracks and was looking forward for the further interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary cooperation on innovation and entrepreneurship course projects.

Then Ms. Wang Jiaonan, who is in charge of Tongji on Tracks: It is an Honor made an introduction on this project. The five-year history of Tongji on Tracks has witnessed her own growing path. When she took part in the 1st Tongji on Tracks in 2011, she was a sophomore.

After five years, she has become a leader in the team of this project consisting of more than 40 students. Through the U-I workshops, seminars, on-site exhibition and documentary making, Tongji on Tracks makes it possible for gathering students from various majors and backgrounds and supervisors from industrial and academic fields to study and work together to gain the practical improvement in practice rather than written knowledge in books. Tongji on Tracks has left its footprint all over the world. The blessing video for the 5th anniversary celebration for Tongji on Tracks from previous participants was played in the ceremony which showed the expectation that students would travel to Italy to share China’s honor.

In the end of the kickoff, Fang Shouen and Wang Xiaodong jointly stamped the postcard designed for Tongji on Tracks: It is an Honor, which marked the beginning of “Tongji on Tracks” in this year.
