Introduction to Dafen Oil Painting Village
Dafen Oil Painting Village is located in Longgang District of Shenzhen Municipality. There are more than 8000 people involved in the oil painting industry, more than 1200 painting merchants including more than 40 famous enterprises besides 350 native residents in the village at present. Dafen Oil Painting Village is known as “Best Oil Painting Village in China”. Since 1989, Huang Jiang from Hong Kong came to Dafen and started oil painting business here, Dafen has become the largest oil painting producing and trading base in China, as well as a major manufacturing center of oil painting in the world within 10 years. 70% of oil paintings in Europe and US were from China, and in which 60% were from Dafen Oil Painting Village as of 2005.
In recent years, based on its developed oil painting production-creation-exhibition-trading industrial chain, Dafen Oil Painting Village has started exploration of industrialization of original oil painting. By attracting professionals in arts, encouraging original oil painting production, actively carrying out innovative creation activities, Dafen is actively realizing industrial transformation. The Dafen International Maker Summer Camp held in Dafen Oil Painting Village mid-August this year was a successful attempt. In the long run, Dafen Oil Painting Village will develop into an international and professional oil painting and exhibition center as well as a diversified cultural industry trading center integrating tourism, leisure, entertainment and shopping.

Awards:
Best Design Award, 20,000 RMB with winners’ certificate for one contestant;
Outstanding Design Award, 2,000 RMB with winners’ certificate for five contestants each.
Introduction to Dafen Art Derivatives Design Competition
Call for entries of art derivatives design related to Dafen Art Community.
Schedule:
1) Call for Entries: September 1st – October 15th, 2015;
2) Awards Day: November 25th, 2015;
3) Exhibition: November 25th – December 31st, 2015.
Awards:
Gold Award, 20,000 RMB with winners’ certificate for one contestant;
Silver Award, 10,000 RMB with winners’ certificate for two contestants each;
Bronze Award, 5,000 RMB with winners’ certificate for three contestants each;
Merit Award, winners’ certificate for 40 contestants each.
Notes:
1. All entries must be original and not based on any pre-existing design. All entries must not be made public, published, ever entered any competition before or infringe the intellectual property rights of any third parties. The organizing committee is not responsible for the contestant’s breaches of a third party’s intellectual property rights. Should any damages occur to third party, the organizing committee reserves the right of canceling contestants’ competition or award qualification in any stage of the competition.
2. Entry for Dafen VI Design Competition should include design of logo, business card, letterhead, envelop, shopping bag and T-shirt. Entry should be in JPG format (A3 size / 200 dpi or higher / horizontal layout).
Entry for Dafen Art Derivatives Design Competition should include product name, rendering, detailed sketch, structural drawing if necessary, outline dimensional drawing, as well as a brief concept introduction of innovative points, production technology, material, etc. Rendering could be made by hand painting or computer program. Different angels of renderings preferred. Entry should be in JPG format (A3 size / 200 dpi or higher / horizontal layout / no less than 2 pictures).
All entries should not include any icon, graphic or other information related to contestants’ organization, name (including English or Pinyin initials) or other figures, or else the entry would be regarded as invalid.
3. By redeeming the prize the contestant will convey Longgang District Government of Shenzhen Municipality all intellectual property rights except for right of authorship.
